Challenges for Groupin.pk

The idea of group purchasing of all sorts of products and services, ranging from food items to clothing, lifestyle and events etc, in the form of Group in is among the top socio-economic change taking place in the country. But like other innovative business ideas which emerged for the benefit of Pakistani society, the launch of Groupin was not a smooth sailing among the public. It faced various suspicions and concerns from various media correspondents and cynical audiences nationwide.

Users at various blog posts and news articles about Group in expressed their related doubts, followed by skeptical comments. A person expressed his pessimism about the maturity of such system by saying that “Group discount has not been very successful in Pakistan as retailers are never convinced that discount is a great idea.” He was also concerned about the under-development of the larger Pakistani community and their reluctant behavior for the acceptance of new ideas.

As no man is born wise, similarly no business develops overnight. The achievement of the first cost-effective sugar deal has cleared out the way to success for Group in and has helped to make a lasting impact in the community. I believe that Groupin has a long way to go.
